For the patient, there are many benefits: increased security, better functional outcome, reduced bleeding, reduced infections, reduced postoperative pain and shorter hospitalisation and convalescence.
For the surgeon, the advantages are indisputable: three-dimensional vision via a high definition camera, easy access to difficult surgical sites, accuracy of surgical manoeuvres thanks to four arms and rotation of the instruments on 6 axes and improved work ergonomics.
Result: the experience gained thus far exceeds 1800 surgical interventions by the end of 2015, including more than a thousand for prostate cancer.
