One of the most up-to-date operating suites in Europe

With a total area of 1,300 m2 and 5 operating rooms of 40 to 70 m2, the operating has integrated digital rooms and a hybrid room allowing the use of technologies such as IORT (Intra-operative Radiation Therapy) and robotics.
The new operating rooms are equipped with the latest innovations in medical technology, including in particular 55-inch high-definition TV screens for telemedicine. These screens can be connected internally (radiology, scanner, imagery) or externally, enabling videoconferencing with other hospitals in Switzerland or abroad, as well as the live transmission of an operation for viewing by the patient’s doctor. Thanks to the size of the high-definition images, surgeons will more easily be able to carry out invasive microsurgery using micro-instruments. The risk of collateral damage to tissue close to the operating site will thus be diminished and visible scarring reduced to almost zero.
These advances and the associated gains in productivity will also have the advantage of reducing the patient’s hospital stay by greatly lessening side effects and the risk of infection. Here, Clinique de Genolier considers itself exemplary, with a general infection rate of less than 3% (compared to the average for Swiss hospitals of 4.9%).
The installation of feeder arms in the ceiling and the completely separate treatment of medical devices are a concrete reflection of this determination to avoid sources of infection. The air conditioning also meets the extremely strict criteria imposed by the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH – OFSP).
