Centre of Excellence for the shoulder

Clinique de Genolier has opened its Centre of Excellence for the treatment of shoulder conditions. The medical team, comprising radiologists, surgeons and physiotherapists, is able to offer the best treatment to patients with shoulder problems, ranging from rehabilitation to surgery.
Driven by the North American School, shoulder surgery underwent rapid growth in Europe and across the world during the 1980s, due in particular to:
- increasingly effective diagnostic imaging (MRI and arthro-MRI)
- minimally invasive surgery using arthroscopic techniques
- improvements in shoulder prostheses, making them as reliable as replacement hip and knee joints for treating arthrosis
- effective rehabilitation methods
The Centre of Excellence for the treatment of shoulder conditions at Clinique de Genolier reflects modern surgical practice for the shoulder: 80% of operations are performed using arthroscopy, both for repairing rotator cuff tears and for treating ligament injuries in athletes. Fitting both anatomical and reverse shoulder prostheses has become routine surgery and the rehabilitation protocols used are allowing the functional result to be optimised in patients. Lastly, the traumatology treatment is based on the excellence of the Swiss School.
